You probably heard about the brilliant turnout we had at APIdays Sydney last February. The API community in Australia is alive and kicking goals with a lot of interest from businesses of all sizes and a clear demonstration that API thinking is now mainstream.
A little surprising and somewhat gratifying was the number of New Zealanders that took the time and effort to cross the Tasman to attend. So it seems like a logical next step to organize a similar event with our Kiwi cousins. It is with great pleasure that we announce APIdays New Zealand, to be held in Auckland on October 19th this year. We’re planning this event in collaboration with local New Zealand consultancy Hypr and with our global partner Oauth.io.
We also take this opportunity to announce the “Call for Papers” for APIdays New Zealand. Our primary aim is to build the API community in New Zealand and we are keen to hear your voice. There is a simple web form to submit your proposal at: http://nz.apidays.io/speak.
APIs enable new ways to connect, collaborate and do business. In the new era of cloud computing and everything “as a service”, APIs define the syntax and semantics of collaboration, they provide the physical endpoint and they provide the point of control.
APIs are the future of digital business and APIdays New Zealand brings together technologists, entrepreneurs and business thought-leaders to discuss, collaborate and learn about APIs. We invite you to participate as a speaker at APIdays New Zealand, to share your thoughts and ideas with your peers, to demonstrate thought-leadership and to help us nurture the local API community.
APIdays is a two-track conference with one track focussed on business and strategy, while the other track deals with technology and implementation. Your audience will represent a range of experience from seasoned API veterans to people who are just embarking on their API journey. So we encourage talks for beginners as well as advanced topics. Talk duration is 30 minutes including questions.
Some of the subject areas we are keen to explore in the “strategy” stream include:
- Company Case Studies
- New Digital Business Models
- Digital Business Transformation
- Connected Healthcare
- Open Government
- Open Data
- API Marketing and Community Management
- Banking and Fintech APIs
- Monetization, Subscription & Billing
- Platforms as a Service (PaaS and iPaaS)
- The Composable Enterprise
And some suggestions for the “execution” stream dealing with technology and implementation:
- API Security
- API Design
- API Specification
- API Consumption
- Internet of Things
- Managing Change (e.g. Versioning)
- SaaS Integration Platforms
- API Testing
- Back-end Architecture
- Mobile Development
- Rx and Asynchronous APIs
- Monitoring & Analytics
Submissions close on September 1st and we are anticipating a very high level of interest, so please get your proposals in as soon as possible.
